Bargate Wedding Cheese Cake

Featuring several artisan cheeses made locally in Yorkshire, this is a stunning wedding cheese cake and a fabulous centrepiece to your wedding.

Named after a medieval stone gate built to protect the Norman castle of Richmond.

The Bargate contains the following:

Bottom Tier:

Baron Bigod - Made by Jonny Crickmore at Fen Farm Dairy in Suffolk this is a Brie de Meaux style soft cheese with complex farmyard flavours.

1kg - Cow, Pasteurised.

Second Tier:

Mrs Bell’s Blue - a beautiful blue cheese made from sheep’s milk by Shepherd’s Purse in Yorkshire.

A favourite of Rick Stein and Raymond Blanc with a complex flavour it’s similar to a Roquefort but milder and creamier.

1.4kg - Sheep, Pasteurised.

Third Tier:

Yoredale - one of our best-selling cheeses this is a raw milk Wensleydale cheese produced by Curlew Dairy in the village of Wensley. Tangy and buttery with mineral flavours.

1.1kg - Cow, unpasteurised

Fourth Tier:

Chaource - Lactic, bloomy-rinded soft cheese produced in the Champagne region of France. First created by the monks in the middle ages it has a creme fraiche flavour when young which develops into more buttery and vegetal as it matures.

250g - Cow, unpasteurised

Top Tier:

Dorstone - a turret-shaped goat’s cheese made by Neal’s Yard Creamery in Herefordshire. Rolled in edible vegetable ash it develops a thin mould rind during maturation. Flavours of citrus.

180g - Goat, Pasteurised.

Serves 35 - 40 people.
